Nelson R. Gabriel is the President & CEO, MADE MEN, also serves as the National Development Ambassador for The Global Orphan Project developing strategic partnerships for the CarePortal platform, as well as the GoEx marketplace.

 

Prior to forming MADE MEN, he served as Senior Pastor of several African Methodist Episcopal Churches of the Midwest Annual Conference; Executive Pastor of The U Church, a Southern Baptist congregation; Administrative Pastor of Embassy International Ministries, and General Secretary of the Embassy International Fellowship.

 

Gabriel is a respected speaker, community organizer and collaborator.  Most recently, he has been tapped by Governor Jeff Colyer to serve as convener of the 2018 Governor’s Forum for the Well-Being of Children & Families: “Engaging the Urban Core Church in Child Welfare”.

 

Gabriel also served as CEO of Beyond The Walls International, a Midwest organization designed to help men and women reenter society from incarceration; and CEO of Unity in the Community, a mentoring organization that hosted the United States Department of Education’s – Voices in Action National Youth Summit.

 

Gabriel served as a Louisiana Democratic Representative (House District 90B) from 1987-1991, in which he was the Youngest Elected Official in both the State of Louisiana, and the United States of America.  In 1990, he was recognized by JET Magazine as the country’s youngest elected official.

 

Gabriel is the son of the late Mildred Gabriel and Nelson Robertson. He is the Godchild of the late Ernest N. “Dutch” Morial, New Orleans’ First Black Mayor. He is married to Dola Williams Gabriel and together they share six children, Carlai, Craig, Damielle, Chalee, Coby and Neichelle.
